It was one midnight and 2 celebrations, as we celebrated into the new decade as well as into Massimo's birthday.


We means a group of friends, the usual suspects really, with wives, kids, dogs and all, gathered at

Massimo's restaurant in the village.


While the regular guests went home before midnight, we remained and had our own private party until the early hours of the New Year.


We met early and were welcomed with Prosecco before starting out on the extensive menu that Massimo had prepared. Gabriel had a very nice Portmann box of JL Petit Coronas to welcome us that smoked perfectly and lasted for most of the starters.


After the main course, tender filet, I smoked a RA Phoenicia courtesy of Steve Cohen that also impressed Inge with its earthiness and intensity.


My choice of cigar to greet the new decade was a custom rolled Diadema by Reynaldo that would turn out perfect and lasted well into the morning after I lighted it up at 10:30 pm.


I even had a plate of 12 grapes prepared by Astrid to greet each stroke of the bell as is customary in Spain.


Bonnie, a fluent German speaking southern belle from Shreveport, LA shared our passion for the good life and enjoyed tasting cigars and wine plus a nice Berta Grappa to toast Massimo after setting off all the fireworks at midnight.
